Shamrock Rovers striker Eamon Zayed has joined Sligo Rovers on loan until the end of the season.

The Libya international’s move to the Showgrounds was completed just before the Airtricity League transfer window closed and Zayed will join up with his new club ahead of tonight’s clash with St Patrick’s Athletic.

Zayed joined Shamrock Rovers last summer but failed to find the form that saw him finish as the league’s top scorer in 2011 when he scored 22 goals for Derry City.

Speaking about the move to the Bit O’ Red, Zayed said: " I'm absolutely delighted that the move went through. It's a fantastic opportunity between now and the end of the season to play games and score goals on a regular basis. It is something that hasn't happened recently for a number of reasons.

" The only focus I have right now is to get playing and scoring goals and enjoying my football again. That is something that I haven't done in a while. I'm hoping I can do that in Sligo.

"There is a lot of people I do want to prove wrong."

"I can safely say right now I have all the motivation in the world to go out and score goals. Although I have played for many years in the league, I still feel I have a lot to prove. There is a lot of people I do want to prove wrong. I can't be more motivated to get the head down, work hard, enjoy it and score goals on a regular basis. That's all I want to do.

"There is not too many games left but there is enough, enough to make an impression."
