Dundalk have completed the signings of Simon Kelly and Mark Griffin.

Both players signed for the 2014 season before last night's training session at Oriel Park.

Kelly returned to the club last summer after a spell in Australia and the Irish League, while Griffin returns to his hometown club after a year at Derry City.

Griffin expressed his happiness at returning to the club and spoke of how he regretted leaving last year. He said: “Just delighted to be back at the club. I shouldn’t have left last year, I know that but I am glad that I got the chance to come back.

“Being under Stephen Kenny is what is right for me. I regretted leaving but this year I am going to work as hard as I ever have before.

“It’s a really good squad and we have a lot of competition for places. It can only be good for us. I know how hard I have to work to get into the team but I’m looking forward to it and can’t wait to get started!”

Also speaking to dundalkfc.com after training, Kelly revealed: “Very happy to re-sign. Always nice to get sorted. We have a lot of games this year, more competitions with Europe and Setanta Cup so plenty of chances us all.

“Pre-season has been good so far. A quick start with the game on Friday – not every week we get to play English teams so looking forward to that.

“Just delighted to sign back. It’s great to be back with the group. There’s real quality here so hopefully we can have a good year.”
