Dundalk have signed striker David McMillan ahead of the 2014 Airtricity League season.

McMillan joins Stephen Kenny's side after spending the second half of last season at Sligo Rovers, having previously played for UCD and St Patrick's Athletic.

The striker picked up a First Division winners medal in 2009 with UCD and his scoring exploits in the first half of the 2013 campaign earned him a move to Sligo.

McMillan becomes the 15th player confirmed for the Lilywhites for 2014 as he joins the already re-signed Peter Cherrie, Mark Rossiter, Andy Boyle, Brian Gartland, Dane Massey, Chris Shields, Stephen O’Donnell, Richie Towell, Darren Meenan, John Mountney, Kurtis Byrne, Patrick Hoban, Ciaran O’Connor and new recruit Sean Gannon in Kenny’s squad.

Elsewhere, Limerick have re-signed striker Rory Gaffney, which will see him spend a fourth year at the club having arrived from Mervue United midway through the 2011 campaign.

Gaffney said: “I’m very happy to sign back. I can’t wait for the season to start. I obviously missed the beginning of last season but I enjoyed the run of games that I got towards the end, and I’m hoping to kick on from there going into the new season.

“It was a good first year in the Premier Division. I don’t think we could have asked for too much more; we were comfortably safe. I think it was a solid year and hopefully we can push on and try to break into the top half."
