Cork City FC have announced that John Dunleavy has signed a new contract with the club.
The Donegal native, who made 25 league appearances for the club last season, said that he believes 2014 can be a good year for the club: “I’ve loved it in Cork since I’ve been here and I’m delighted to be back for another season.
"I think it is a massive opportunity for us all to push on and achieve something. It is a very exciting time for the club with John (Caulfield) coming in as manager and so many signings being made.”
“Our signings have been a statement of intent for the year to come. They are all players who would have been sought after by other clubs, and it shows that they feel we are going to achieve something down here.
"If we all pull in the same direction, I can see us doing very well.”
Manager Caulfield said he was delighted to have Dunleavy on board, and was impressed with the passion shown by the 22-year-old.
“He has been a fantastic player for us, he has a super attitude and he is another top quality player," said Caulfield.
"He is what we want in the squad; a real winner. He believes in the club and believes we can win trophies.”
“He is very versatile; he can play anywhere across the back four and in midfield.
"I see in him another guy who is really passionate about the club and when I met him he was always keen to sign back.
"I am very pleased that we are signing guys like Johnny back, and with the new signings coming in too, it is shaping up nicely.”
