Mervue United will take a one-goal advantage to the second leg of the Airtricity First Division play-off after a win over Longford Town tonight.

Jason Molloy's 14th goal gave Mervue the lead and Corie Treacy was sent off 12 minutes later to throw Longford's hopes into jeopardy.

But Mervue couldn't put more of a gap between the sides ahead of next Tuesday's second leg in City Calling Stadium and Ryan Connolly came close to snatching a draw for the midlanders in front of just over 600 fans in Fahy's Field.
