Robbie Keane scored a hat-trick for the LA Galaxy last night as they beat Real Salt Lake 4-2 in the MLS.

The Republic of Ireland captain was excused for Wednesday’s night’s friendly 0-0 draw with Wales but Giovanni Trapattoni will be encouraged that his main man is keeping his eye in on club duty.

All of Keane's goals came in the second half and brings his season tally to ten.

Meanwhile, Richard Dunne, who was also missing from the squad for the pre-season friendly, played the full 90 minutes as QPR beat Ipswich in the Sky Bet Championship.

The former Aston Villa defender is regaining match fitness after an injury-hit 2012/13 season as he hopes to force his way into Trapattoni’s squad for the World Cup Group C double-header against Sweden and Austria next month.
