The final place in the quarter-finals of the EA SPORTS Cup will be decided on this evening when last year’s beaten finalists Shamrock Rovers take on Dundalk at Tallaght Stadium, kick-off 8.00pm.

Rovers captain Pat Sullivan, Danny Ledwith and Mark Quigley are all ruled out of the game with hamstring injuries.

Derek Foran is also expected to be out with a foot injury that he picked up in Friday night’s game against Bohemians, while Billy Dennehy is also a doubt for the game.

Conor Powell is expected to be available again after his recent injury lay-off.

Hoops boss Trevor Croly said: “We played Dundalk here in Tallaght a couple of weeks ago and did well against them. And with this being a cup game, we will want to get the win and progress to the next round.

"We know Dundalk will be keen to do the same, so it should be a good, competitive game.”

Dundalk will be without Chris Shields as he continues to recover from a knee problem.

Mark Rossiter has shaken off his knee injury and is available for selection.

Lilywhites boss Stephen Kenny said: "We had a tough game in the last round against Shelbourne and we’ve been given another tough draw away to Shamrock Rovers so it’s not easy.

"I will be utilising my squad for the game with the Sligo game to be rescheduled for the next couple of weeks. We have a tough run of games. We’ll see how we go and enjoy the game.”

Monday night’s seven second round games saw holders Drogheda United advance into the last eight along with Sligo Rovers, St Patrick’s Athletic, Derry City, Cork City, Limerick and Bohemians.
