Extra assistant referees for Setanta Cup semi-finals

Additional assistant referees will be introduced for the first time in domestic competition next week when two extra match officials will be involved in the Setanta Sports Cup semi-finals..

Following a joint proposal from the Referee Departments of the IFA and FAI, the Setanta Sports Cup Tournament Committee has agreed to their introduction for the semi-finals and final of this year’s competition.

The fees for the extra two match officials will be met by both Associations.

The two additional assistant referees at the Shamrock Rovers v Cork City semi-final first leg in Tallaght Stadium next Tuesday night will be Tómas Connolly and Rob Rogers, both of whom have fulfilled the role at UEFA level.

At Hunky Dory’s Park, two IFA officials, Ray Crangle and Mervyn Smith, will be on duty at the Drogheda United v Sligo Rovers game.
