FAI president Paddy McCaul has led tributes to former Galway United player Tommy Keane, who died yesterday, aged 44.
Keane collapsed after playing an indoor soccer tournament in Galway.
McCaul said: “He was a great player and news of his death has come as a great shock.”
John Delaney, chief executive of the FAI, said: “The thoughts of everybody, at this sad time, are with his family, friends and all those involved in Galway football.”
Keane won man-of-the-match in the 1991 FAI Cup final when Galway United beat Shamrock Rovers.
He is survived by his wife Paula and son Tommy jnr.
