Derry City winger Stephen McLaughlin travels to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday where is to undergo a medical ahead of possibly signing for the Championship club.

It is thought that Forest will pay £200,000 plus add-ons for McLaughlin, who recently had a week-long trial at the City Ground.

Derry midfielder Barry McNamee has also attracted interest from Forest after he impressed during his recent trial.

Both McNamee and McLaughlin were on the victorious Candystripes team that won this year's FAI Cup.

Speaking in the Londonderry Sentinel, McLaughlin said: “It has been a long couple of weeks, not knowing what was going to happen, but hopefully now everything will be sorted out.

"If I get the opportunity to sign for Forest then yes I’ll be over the moon, who wouldn’t be delighted?

“I enjoyed my time with Forest, yes it’s a massive step up from League of Ireland, because there are better players, better facilites and better training."
