Raheny United went top of the Bus Éireann National Women’s League with a 4-1 victory over Dublin rivals Peamount United.

Cork got their first points of the campaign in an exciting 2-2 draw against Castlebar Celtic at CIT, while Shamrock Rovers also got off the mark with a scoreless draw against Wexford Youths at Tallaght Stadium.

The game of the day was the top-of-the-table clash at Morton Stadium between Raheny United and Peamount United, who both went into the game with a 100% record.

Irish U19 international Ciara Grant opened the scoring for Raheny in the 27th minute, before Sara Lawlor equalised for Peamount four minutes later.

Fellow U19 international Siobhán Killeen scored for Raheny just before half-time and both Grant and Killeen ensured the victory with further goals in the 46th and 61st minute respectively.

Cork’s Lynsey McKey scored the league’s quickest goal of the season with her opener against Castlebar Celtic in the first minute.

Aileen Gilroy responded for Castlebar in the 23rd minute, before Shauna Jackson gave the Mayo side the lead in the 31st minute.

However, McKey proved to be the hero for Cork with her late equaliser in the dying moments giving Cork their first point of the campaign.

Peamount United have the opportunity to get back on track next Sunday when they travel to Castlebar, while Wexford Youths host Raheny United and Cork travel to Shamrock Rovers. All games kick-off at 2pm.
