Waterford United have decided not to renew the services of manager Brendan Rea for next season.
A statement from the club read: "Following a number of meetings of the Waterford United management committee, it has been decided not to offer Brendan Rea a contract for the 2006 season.
"The club would like to thank Brendan for his contribution to Waterford United and wish him well in the future.
"The club will now continue the process of appointing a new manager."
Rea, assisted by Pat Dolan, led the Blues on a very strong run at the end of the season.
They managed to stave off relegation but the board clearly weren’t happy that the club had to dig themselves out of that precarious position, especially after the excellent campaign of 2004.
Speculation is now bound to link Dolan with the vacancy.
