FAI Intermediate Cup holders Wayside Celtic from the Leinster Senior League, caused a surprise when they deservedly defeated Eircom First Division side Cobh Ramblers at St Colemans Park.
The crucial goal after 16 minutes was a well executed effort as captain Ian Callaghan powerfully headed past Anthony Fennelly.
The visitors were the better side on a night when Cobh lost their third consecutive home game, the nearest the homeside came to scoring was when an Alan Carey free kick forced a fine diving save from Robbie O'Dowd in the 91st minute.
Peter Lennon's side, who have won three Intermediate Cups in ten years, progress to the third round.
