Striker Craig Curran has left Limerick after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.

Curran joined Limerick on loan in February 2013 from Rochdale before making a permanent move to Shannonside in the summer.

He has made little impact this campaign and speculation had grown in the last week over his future.

Limerick released a statement yesterday saying they wouldn't comment on the matter on legal advice, before confirming his departure this morning.

Curran tweeted: "Sad to say I have left Limerick FC today.

"I had such a good time playing here and met some great people. Special thanks to fans you have been fantastic."

Curran described Limerick boss Stuart Taylor as "a top manager and an even better guy."

Limerick meet Dundalk on Friday night in Thomond Park, hoping to record just a third league win of the season.
