Drogheda United have signed former St Patrick’s Athletic midfielder Stephen Maher.
Maher, 26, won a league winner’s medal last season with St Pat’s and he joins Drogheda just one game into the 2014 SSE Airtricity Premier Division campaign.
The Dubliner has battled back to fitness after suffering a broken leg towards the tail end of last season.
Drogs manager Robbie Horgan said: "I think we were probably thin in the squad particularly with our current suspensions and a couple of injuries. We're getting a quality player in Stephen and I'm over the moon.
“He was very unfortunate to break his leg towards the end of the season but he's back to full fitness now and will give me options in midfield and also at right-back if necessary."
Drogheda got off to a winning start to the new Premier Division campaign with an emphatic 4-1 victory in the Louth derby against Dundalk last Friday.
