Cork City have confirmed that they have signed Shamrock Rovers frontman Daryl Kavanagh.

Kavanagh, who scored three goals in 17 games for the Tallaght side last season, joins Cork on a two-year contract.

City manager Tommy Dunne said: "I am familiar with Daryl, as he has played against us a number of times over the past couple of years with Waterford, St Pat’s and Shamrock Rovers.

"He is a very good player and caused us many problems when playing against us.

"He is coming to Cork City at a very good age. He is a very creative striker, with a good work rate. I am hoping that he will settle in Cork and become a fixture in our team over next number of years."

Kavanagh has set his sights on helping City challenging for honours again.

"I am delighted to have signed for the club. Cork City has always been a massive club and I think the club is getting back to where it used to be," he said.
