Mark Quigley has signed for Sligo Rovers for the 2012 Airtricity Premier Division season.

Quigley leaves managerless Dundalk, having also had spells with Bohemians and St Patrick’s Athletic in the top flight.

Sligo have also captured Danny North from St Patrick’s Athletic in the off-season, as well as re-signing a number of their 2011 FAI Cup winning squad.

Manager Paul Cook is also believed to be chasing former Bit o' Red man Romauld Boco and Stewart Greacen as he attempts to put a squad together capable of challenging title holders Shamrock Rovers.

Cook said: "I’m delighted with the signing. It is probably the most exciting signing I’ve made with the club. He is a player I have always admired and if I am honest a player we have always tried to bring to Sligo Rovers.

"I think Mark scored 21 goals in all competitions last year and to have that sort of firepower is fantastic. I do think there was something missing in our play at certain times this year and I’m confident Mark can be the cog we were looking for and improve us.

"We are always trying to put ourselves to the forefront in terms of signings and it is has gone well so far. We’re active and we want to build a squad that is full of quality. The club has lowered the budget for 2012 but we still want to bring the best players to Sligo and that will continue as we approach pre-season."
