FAI confirm Galway United appeal
Updated: Wednesday, 16 Feb 2011 11:50
The Football Association of Ireland has confirmed that Galway United have formally appealed the decision to refuse them a League license.
Galway were put in the ‘A’ Championship after it was decided they did not meet financial standards set out in the Clubs’ Licensing manual. The club did not have a tax clearance certificate before Sunday’s deadline. They also owed two creditors back wages.
It is understood that those two creditors would be paid this week while the club is seeking to obtain the tax certificate.
Monaghan United will get a place in the Premier Division if the Galway appeal fails.
The appeal will be heard on Friday morning.
