Champions Bohemians moved clear in third place in the Premier Division table thanks to goals from Paul Keegan and Ken Oman at Dalymount Park.
Keegan set them on their way on 28 minutes when he met Paddy Madden’s ball and hammered a cracking low drive past Richard Brush into the bottom left of the net.
The second came on 59 minutes when a Mark Quigley free came into the area and Oman managed to get his head to the ball and nod it between Brush and his left hand post.
Sligo started well and had a chance to open the scoring on six minutes when John Russell rose highest for Joseph Ndo’s corner but directed his header off target.
Rovers’ Gavin Peers then gave his goalkeeper Brush a scare on 14 minutes when his attempt to clear Conor Powell’s cross only diverted the ball toward goal. Luckily for Peers, Brush’s reaction was quick and he got a hand to the ball and pushed it away.
Bohs took the lead on 28 minutes when Quigley played in Madden who in turn pulled the ball back for Keegan, who hammered that smashing low drive past Brush.
It could have been two for Bohs on 37 when Ruaidhri Higgins squared his free kick across to Quigley but the former St Pat’s man couldn’t get a good enough connection on the ball and slammed it wide.
Bohs began the second period looking to add to their first half goal.
On 51, Brush parried Higgins’ free kick out of the area were it was met by Keegan but he couldn’t replicate his opener and crashed his shot wide.
While on 56 minutes former Sligo Rovers man Raffaele Cretaro managed to miss the target with only Brush to beat.
The second goal came on 59 minutes when Oman rose highest at the far corner and managed to nod the ball between Brush and the post.
Rovers found it hard to break down Bohs after that but a good passage of play on 68 minutes carved an opening for Richie Ryan to unleash a long range effort, but Bohs keeper Barry Murphy made the save.
Murphy made an equally good save from Gary McCabe’s free in injury time.
