Cork City have called a press conference for 3pm on Friday at Rochestown Park Hotel with only days left to save the club.

Cork face a winding-up order petition by the Revenue Commissioners on Monday and even if they survive that, there is still a huge doubt over whether or not they will be granted a licence to play in the League of Ireland this season.

Owner Tom Coughlan has been searching for parties interested in purchasing the Rebels and it is thought that, if a sale does not go through in the next week, the club will fold.

Coughlan will not head the press conference as he is serving an FAI imposed suspension from running the club.

General Manager Liam Meaney, first-team manager Roddy Collins and club captain, thought to be George O'Callaghan after Dan Murray's departure to Shamrock Rovers, will instead take charge of the briefing.
