Twigg takes PFAI award

Shamrock Rovers’ Gary Twigg was voted by his fellow professionals as the PFAI Ford League of Ireland Premier Division Player of the Year.

Twigg was rewarded for a superb debut season in the League of Ireland that saw the Hoops striker top the scoring charts with 24 league goals.

Ronan Finn of UCD earned the accolade for League of Ireland First Division Player of the Year, and as part of the sponsorship Ford will provide both players with the exclusive use of a new Ford Focus for the following year.

Bohemians’ Conor Powell picked up the Young Player of the Year award, while Robbie Keane received the Overseas Player of the Year award.

Alan Kelly was recognised as the Referee of the Year, and Cork City's Gerry Harris received the Merit Award.
