The future of Derry City could be clearer this Saturday after the FAI called a specially convened Board meeting to deal with crisis in the Brandywell.

Derry are in extreme difficulties, with debts apparently totally in the region of £400,000 and players have failed to have been paid for several weeks.

The club met with the FAI on Thursday and now the governing body of the league will assemble to discuss the situation.

The FAI will be keen to keep Derry in senior football but at the moment things look bleak for the Candystripes.

Dungannon Swifts have already began a winding-up order against the club over the £30,000 owed due to Niall McGinn’s move to Celtic.

Derry conclude their Premier Division season on Friday away to Dundalk.

Sanctions facing the club include points deduction or possible relegation to the First Division or 'A' Championship, if they survive at all.
