St Patrick's Athletic have appointed Pete Mahon as manager of their first-team for the remainder of the season.
Former UCD boss Mahon takes over from Jeff Kenna who tendered his resignation in the wake of the Saints exit in the FAI Ford Cup at the hands of Waterford United.
Mahon, who managed Bohemians for a brief period in 2001, is best known for his five-and-a-half year reign in charge of UCD during which time helped them gain promotion to the top flight and kept them there for four seasons.
St Pat's CEO Richard Sadlier said: 'I'm delighted to have a man of Pete's experience in charge of the team at this point in the season.
'Hopefully he can make an immediate impact, beginning with this Friday's game at home against Cork City.'
Caretaker manager Maurice O'Driscoll will remain in charge for this evening's Setanta Sports encounter with Derry City.
