Some of the gloom surrounding Cork City's financial situation lifted today after the examiner appointed to the club confirmed that he is a step closer to naming new owners of the club.
Examiner Kieran McCarthy confirmed that he is seeking further information from a short-list of interested parties prior to deciding who the successful bidder will be.
A short statement released by the club said: 'Mr McCarthy expects to be in a position to make a decision in this regard in the coming week.
'No further comment on the process will be made by either the examiner or Cork City Football Club until the successful bidder has been notified and certainty regarding the investment in the Club is forthcoming.'
