Robbie Keane will be available for the Republic of Ireland’s international friendlies with England in Wembley and Georgia in Dublin, after holding talks with his club LA Galaxy.

Yesterday Keane appeared to withdraw from the Ireland squad for the long awaited encounter with England at Wembley on 29 May and the home clash with Georgia on 2 June as his club side refused to release him.

Both games fall outside the FIFA international window and LA Galaxy, whose season continues in the US, are under no obligation to release Keane.

However following additional discussions today, Keane and LA Galaxy have now reached an agreement that will see him be made available for both friendlies.

“I would like to thank LA Galaxy for reconsidering their decision after further conversations between us which really means a lot to me,” Keane said.

“We have reached an agreement that will enable me to make it to the games and I look forward to playing my part.”

Keane will also be available for World Cup qualification match in Dublin against the Faroe Islands on 7 June and the friendly against Spain in New York.
