FAI football awards nominees announced

The FAI announced have the nominations for the 23rd ‘Three’ FAI International Football Awards, which will take place on Sunday February 3, 2013 at RTÉ studios.

The awards will be broadcast live on RTÉ Two at 8.00pm and streamed live on RTÉ.ie within the Republic of Ireland.

Among the nominees are; James McCarthy, Kevin Doyle and Keith Andrews who have been nominated for the Senior International Player of the Year Award. James McCarthy picks up another nomination along with Robbie Brady and Seamus Coleman for the Young Player of the Year Award.

Three goals have been nominated for the Three International Goal of the Year.

The nominees are; Marc Wilson for his long distance strike against the Faroe Islands in the World Cup Qualifier Group C clash (16/10/12), Robbie Brady for his debut goal against Oman in September (11/9/11).

Kevin Doyle is nominated for his last minute decider over Kazakhstan which helped Ireland secure a vital three points in our opening Group C World Cup Qualifier last September (7/9/12).

Current Shamrock Rovers duo Jason McGuinness and Mark Quigley, along with Sligo Rovers midfielder Danny Ventre have all been given the nod as nominees for the Airtricity League Player of the Year Award.

The nominations, which were chosen by a panel from the Soccer Writers' Association of Ireland, are divided into 18 categories. Among the awards being presented at the special ceremony.

A former Republic of Ireland great will be inducted into the FAI's Hall of Fame, while there will also be a Special Merit Award, and an International Personality of the Year Award, all of which will be announced at the event.

Under 17 Women's International Player of the Year:
Lisa Casserly, Meagan Connolly, Lauren Dwyer

Junior International Player of the Year:
Adrian Walsh, Christopher Higgins, Paul Murphy

Intermediate Player of the Year:
David O'Sullivan, Gerry Gill, Brian Murphy

Football for All International Player of the Year:
Roy Keating, Shane Morrisey, Davy Byrne

FAI School's International Player of the Year:
Sean Maguire, Brian Lenihan, Pierce Sweeney
