Republic of Ireland and Nottingham Forest forward Simon Cox is waiting to discover the extent of an ankle injury suffered against Wolves on Saturday.
Cox was carried off on a stretcher after 65 minutes of the Reds’ 2-1 win at Molineux following a challenge by compatriot Kevin Foley.
An initial X-ray has revealed no major bone fractures but the striker will also have a MRI scan to determine whether there is any ligament damage.
Meanwhile, John O’Shea is a major doubt for Sunderland’s clash with QPR tomorrow night,
The 31-year-old limped out of Saturday's 4-2 home defeat by West Brom with a calf problem.
Waiting for the results of the scans I had this morning. No news yet.
