Republic of Ireland Group C rivals Croatia began their Euro 2012 preparations in earnest with a solid 3-1 friendly victory over Estonia in Rijeka.

Vedran Corluka opened the scoring for the hosts after 16 minutes while Nikola Kalinic added a second four minutes later.

Ognjen Vukojevic made it 3-0 in the 81st minute while Konstantin Vasillev restored some respectability to the scoreline for Estonia late on when he netted with a deflected free-kick.

Croatia, who have another warm-up game against Norway next week, open their Euro 2012 Group C account against Giovanni Trapattoni’s men on 10 June.
