There are reports on Monday that FIFA has been called into to settle a financial dispute between the FAI and their Scottish counterparts the SFA.
It has been reported that the FAI owes the SFA €1.4 million dating back to last summer’s Carling Nations Cup tournament.
It seems repeated efforts have been made to resolve the situation, but with none forthcoming, the matter has been referred to FIFA.
Scottish football expert Roddy Forsyth told RTÉ Sport that the SFA are “certain” to go to FIFA to pursue the matter.
The FAI released a statement in response to the claims stating that they are looking to adjust the payments to be made to the SFA.
The statement read: “Following the tournament, the FAI, the IFA and the FAW have been in negotiations with the Scottish FA seeking a downward adjustment of their fee to give a more equitable share of the profits to each of the competing associations based on the economic climate and ticket sales generated at the tournament.”
The statement also went on to deny the issue is linked to UEFA Euro 2012 prize money.
