Republic of Ireland winger Aiden McGeady will be out for two months with an ankle injury according to his club Spartak Moscow.

Spartak’s McGeady suffered serious ligament damage to his ankle in their match with Ruban Kazan.

The club's medical team have decided that surgery is not required but the former Celtic man will face eight weeks on the sidelines.

He is now likely to miss the Republic of Ireland’s friendly with Croatia in August but should be available for the Euro 2012 qualifes with Slovakia and Russia if the recovery time is correct.
