Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni will make a late decision on key midfielder Steven Reid ahead of Wednesday night's World Cup qualifier in Montenegro.
The 26-year-old Blackburn player trained at the Podgorica Stadium with his team-mates on Monday night after earlier sitting out with a knee problem picked up in the 2-1 win over Georgia on Saturday.
Reid played a starring role against the Georgians as his fledgling partnership with Glenn Whelan in the middle of the pitch continued to blossom.
That pairing and the system it allows Ireland to adopt have formed a major foundaton of the Italian's masterplan since he took over at the helm.
However, he admits he is keeping his fingers crossed over Reid's continued participation and his side look to double their World Cup qualifiying points total to six.
Asked if he had decided on his team yet, Trapattoni said: 'No. We will see after training if Steven will be fit. We had two or three little injuries after the game on Saturday, but I was very happy because Kevin Doyle and Stephen Hunt were able to train yesterday. I am optimistic that Steven Reid can also play.'
Asked further if that was his only remaining question mark, he said: 'Yes.'
Republic of Ireland probable starting XI to face Montenegro on Wednesday, 10 September at 6.00pm.
Given, Finan, O'Shea, Dunne, Kilbane, McGeady, Whelan, Reid, Hunt, Keane & Doyle.
