Arsenal will face Turkish club Besiktas in the Champions League play-off round for a place in the Group Stages of the tournament.

Arsene Wenger's side, who finished fourth in the Premier League last season, will travel to Istanbul for the first match in the week beginning August 18, with the home leg taking place the following week.

Arsenal have never previously met Besiktas in any European competition.

Twice former champions Porto were also handed a difficult draw as they were paired against Lille, with the French club at home in the first leg.

Former European champions Steaua Bucharest were drawn with Bulgaria's Ludogorets Razgrad.

Scottish champions Celtic, reprieved after third qualifying round opponents Legia Warsaw fielded an ineligible player in their 6-1 aggregate win, will meet Slovenian champions Maribor.

Meanwhile Tottenham will face Cypriot side AEL Limassol in the final play-off round of the Europa League. Hull's Europa League reward for a narrow win over Slovakian's AS Trencin in the previous round is a tie against Belgians Lokere.

The draw for the UEFA Champions League Play-Off is as follows:

Maribor v Celtic
SV Red Bull Salzburg v Malmo
AaB v APOEL Nicosia
Steaua Bucuresti v Ludogorets
Slovan Bratislava v BATE
Besiktas v Arsenal
Standard Liege v Zenit St. Petersburg
FC Copenhagen v Bayer Leverkusen
Lille v FC Porto
Napoli v Athletic Bilbao
