Borussia Dortmund have extended the contract of coach Jurgen Klopp until 2018.

Klopp negotiated a new deal with the club until 2016 only a year ago, but he has reaffirmed his commitment to the Bundesliga outfit by signing a new two-year extension, along with his assistant Zeljko Buvac.

"Since you should never separate that which belongs together, we've extended the contract of our head coach and his team once again," said the club's general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke.

Klopp added: "We're all still just a little bit in love with this club and the way in which things are progressing here."

Klopp, who has reportedly been a target for a number of high-profile European clubs, took charge of Dortmund in 2008 and led them to the Bundesliga title three seasons later.

A year later they went one better by winning a domestic league and cup double.

Last season they finished runners-up to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and were beaten by the Bavarians in the final of the Champions League.

This term they are a point behind Pep Guardiola's men at the top of the Bundesliga after 10 games of the season.

"He's the perfect coach for Dortmund," said the club's director of sport Michael Zorc.
