Bohemians completed a comprehensive defeat of Rhyl in the Intertoto Cup with a 4-2 win at Belle Vue this afternoon.

The Welsh side went out 9-3 on aggregate, following last week's 5-1 reverse in the first round, first leg match in Dublin.

The Lilywhites' hopes of an unlikely comeback were ended in the first half of today's contest by a goal from Stephen O'Donnell.

It sparked a burst of goals as Jason Byrne doubled the lead from the penalty spot, then Jason McGuinness made it 3-0.

Although Mark Connolly struck back for the Welsh Premier side with two goals, former Leeds midfielder Harpal Singh added a fourth for the visitors before the interval.

The eircom League Premier Division leaders will now play either Latvia's FK Riga or Fylkir FC, with the latter holding a 2-1 advantage from the first leg ahead of tomorrow's return in Iceland.
