Zenit St Petersburg v Liverpool

Liverpool travelled to Russia to face Zenit St Petersburg with a virtually full strength squad.

January signings Daniel Sturridge and forward Philippe Coutinho were left at home as they are ineligible having played for Chelsea and Inter Milan respectively in Europe this season.

Otherwise manager Brendan Rodgers selected his strongest squad with Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Jose Reina and Jamie Carragher all included along with youngsters Conor Coady and Suso.

Newcastle v Metalist Kharkiv

Newcastle striker Yoan Gouffran is expected to return to training on Monday after X-rays revealed he did not suffer a leg fracture at Tottenham.

The Frenchman will miss the clash with Metalist Kharkiv because he has already played for Bordeaux in the competition, while full-back Mathieu Debuchy is also ineligible.

Hatem Ben Arfa (knee) continues to work his way back to full fitness, but fellow midfielder Sammy Ameobi is out with a hamstring problem.

Sparta Prague v Chelsea

Captain John Terry travelled despite missing last Saturday's defeat of Wigan with a knee injury.

The 32-year-old defender was part of a 19-man Blues squad which travelled to the Czech capital for the tie at the Generali Arena.

David Luiz, Demba Ba, Victor Moses and John Obi Mikel missed the trip. Luiz is suspended, Ba ineligible after representing Newcastle earlier in the competition and Moses and Mikel miss out after winning the African Nations Cup with Nigeria last Sunday.

Gary Cahill, who was withdrawn from the Wigan win after suffering cramp, is available for selection by interim boss Rafael Benitez.

Goalkeeper Petr Cech, who suffered a hairline fracture to his little finger on his left hand at Newcastle, is in line to face his former club.

Manager Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed that Brad Friedel, and not former Lyon man Hugo Lloris, will start in goal for Spurs.Striker Emmanuel Adebayor will lead the attacking line in the Europa League clash at White Hart Lane as Jermain Defoe is ruled out with an ankle injury.

Long-term absentees Sandro and Younes Kaboul remain sidelined, but the latter should be available again in two weeks' time.
