Holders Sevilla will play Tottenham Hotspur as the three Spanish teams in the UEFA Cup quarter-finals were kept apart in Friday's draw.
Sevilla overcame Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine 3-2 for a 5-4 aggregate win in the second knockout round, while Tottenham, who have won all their eight matches in the competition this season, saw off Braga of Portugal.
The winners of the Sevilla-Spurs tie will play either Bayer Leverkusen of Germany or Osasuna of Spain in the semi-finals.
Leverkusen lost to Spurs 1-0 in the group stage.
AZ Alkmaar, who beat Newcastle United on the away goals rule, will face Werder Bremen of Germany, with the winners of that tie meeting the winners of the all-Iberian peninsula clash between Espanyol of Spain and Benfica of Portugal.
The quarter-finals will be played on 5 and 12 April, the semis on 26 April and 3 May with the final at Hampden Park, Glasgow on 16 May.
