Cork City have accepted an undisclosed offer for rising star Brian Lenihan from Championship side Brighton.

Lenihan, who joined Cork from Munster Senior League side College Corinthians two years ago, has been linked to a number of Premier League and Championship clubs in recent months.

The full-back made his debut for the Republic of Ireland Under-21 side against Qatar in May.

The Leesiders released statement which read: “Cork City Football Club can confirm that the club has received an offer for our player, Brian Lenihan, which has been accepted.

“The club will not be making any further comment on the matter at this time, and the focus of our management and players is fully on Friday night’s FAI Ford Cup tie against Bohemians at Turner’s Cross. “
