Ireland internationals Kevin Doyle and Alex Pearce were both on the scoresheet as Reading beat QPR 3-1 in the Sky Bet Championship.

Doyle, on loan from Wolves, cancelled out Danny Williams's opener at Loftus Road with a goal in the 20th minute, but defender Pearce restored the Reading lead in the 56th minute.

Garath McCleary's stunning strike capped a fine victory for the visitors .

It meant back-to-back defeats for Harry Redknapp's pre-season title favourites, who remain four points behind second-placed Burnley, for whom Keith Treacy scored in a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Anthony Stokes scored a hat-trick as Celtic continued their stroll to the Scottish title with a 3-0 win over St Johnstone

Martin O'Neill is due to name his first Ireland squad, for the friendly against Serbia on 5 March, in Limerick on Thursday.
