Ireland international Paul McShane could be ruled out for several weeks after suffering an ankle injury in last night's clash against Southampton.

Defender McShane was stretchered off as Hull City were beaten 1-0 by the Saints in Tuesday's league clash at The KC Stadium.

McShane sustained the injury after colliding with Tigers goalkeeper Steve Harper after 12 minutes of the league defeat.

Hull boss Steve Bruce said: “Paul has had x-rays and they revealed no break.

“But if you saw the incident like I did, the video evidence doesn’t look great and his ankle was in a horrible position, so we fear ligament damage and as we know, ligament damage can sometimes be worse than a break.

“Until we see the scans on Wednesday, we won’t know but his ankle is huge at the moment and it doesn’t look good.”
