Wes Hoolahan has handed in a transfer request at Norwich City in a bid to join Aston Villa, according to reports this morning.

The Republic of Ireland is keen to link up with former boss Paul Lambert who is on the lookout for a creative midfielder.

Hoolahan has reportedly told the Carrow Road manager Chris Hughton that he wants to leave Norwich after more than five years. 

Villa made a bid for the midfielder, believed to be in the region of £1.5million, when the January transfer window last week.
