Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa is facing three to four weeks on the sidelines because of a knee injury.

United boss Alex Ferguson confirmed the news at his press conference this morning.

"Kagawa is out for three to four weeks with a knee injury. Playing on Tuesday (against Braga in the Champions League) didn't help. It is disappointing," the Scot said.

On a positive note, Ferguson reported that defender Chris Smalling was back in training following a broken metatarsal.

"Smalling is back training on the football side of things," Ferguson added.

"Phil Jones will hopefully start full training a week on Monday, so things are getting better on that front.

"Certainly getting Smalling back is a big bonus for us. Other than that, everyone else is available for Sunday's game (at Chelsea)."
