Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd is expected to make sweeping changes for his team's match at Wigan on Saturday.

The Hornets boss rested virtually all his first-team players for the midweek win over Accrington in the Carling Cup, but his key men should all return as Watford look for their first Barclays Premiership win of the campaign.

Goalkeeper Ben Foster, defender Malky Mackay, midfielders Gavin Mahon and Damien Francis and forwards Marlon King and Ashley Young are all likely to be restored, but defenders Clarke Carlisle (chest infection) and Chris Powell (calf) remain sidelined.

Wigan manager Paul Jewell has almost a full squad to choose from.

Apart from long-term casualties Ryan Taylor and Steve McMillan, the only other player definitely sidelined is Lee McCulloch with a knee injury.

Jewell is expected to make a number of changes following the shock midweek Carling Cup defeat to Crewe, with Chris Kirkland, Arjan de Zeeuw, Henri Camara, Emile Heskey and Antonia Valencia all due to start.

Wigan Athletic: Kirkland, Jackson, Hall, De Zeeuw, Kilbane, Camara, Heskey, Johansson, Landzaat, Boyce, Scharner, Teale, Cotterill, Cywka, Webster, Skoko, Baines, Valencia, Todorov, Pollitt.

Watford squad: Foster, Lee, Doyley, Mackay, Shittu, Stewart, DeMerit, Chambers, Mariappa, Young, Mahon, Francis, Smith, Spring, Bangura, Bouazza, McNamee, Jarrett, King, Henderson, Priskin.
