Republic of Ireland striker Stephen Elliott has completed his move to Wolves from Sunderland.

The 23-year-old has signed a three-year deal after flying to Ireland to join Wanderers' pre-season tour.

Elliott was a Mick McCarthy signing for the Black Cats and scored 22 goals in 88 appearances for the club. However, last season was interrupted by an ankle ligament injury and he started just 15 games.

Elliott said: ‘I cannot wait for the season to start because I really believe we can push for promotion.

‘I think we have got a really good chance - as good a chance as anyone.

‘I know about the lads and how well they did last season so I am hoping we can push on and go one better this time.

‘I have been training with Sunderland so I am pretty much up to date with pre-season and the fitness will take care of itself.’
