Tolka Park floodlights failed for tonight's FAI Ford Cup replay

The FAI Ford Cup last 16 replay between Shelbourne and St Patrick's Athletic at Tolka Park was postponed prior to kick-off due to floodlight failure.

A blown transformer in the generator knocked out the lights on four of the eight pylons and while there was sufficient light to commence the game, it would not have been possible to play it to a finish.

A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course.

The game was scheduled to begin at 8pm.

Referee Dave McKeon consulted Shelbourne officials throughout but at 8:20pm the decision was made to postpone the fixture.

The game has been re-fixed for next Monday, September 1, at Tolka Park with an 8pm kick-off.

Tickets purchased for this evening’s game will be valid for Monday’s re-fixture.

In the event of the scores being level after 90 minutes of play there is for provision for extra-time and penalties to decide who will advance to a quarter-final tie at home to Bohemians.
