The FAI Ford Cup semi-finals dominate today sporting calendar with both games being shown back to back on RTÉ Two and www.RTÉ.ie/sport from 1.30pm.

A date at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday, 3 November, awaits the winners of both ties.

At 1.45pm in Hunky Dorys Park, Louth clubs Drogheda United and Dundalk will meet for the first time ever at the semi-final stage, while the other game, at 3.55pm, in the Showgrounds is a repeat of the 2010 final between Sligo Rovers and Shamrock Rovers, which Sligo won 2-0 on penalties after a scoreless draw.

Both Drogheda United and Shamrock Rovers are bidding to reach their third consecutive final this season having already contested the Setanta Sports Cup Final in May and the EA SPORTS Cup decider last month.

Drogheda are at full strength for the Louth derby while Dundalk, who secured Europa League qualification earlier in the week, welcome back skipper Stephen O’Donnell from suspension as they bid to win a cup tie on Boyneside for the first time ever having drawn two and lost two of the previous four encounters.

Sligo Rovers will be without Ross Gaynor (knee), Gavin Peers (suspended) and David McMillan (cup-tied) while Shamrock Rovers have Pat Sullivan suspended.

The Bit o' Red will be hoping to continue a run of 678 minutes without conceding in The Showgrounds as they bid to reach a fourth FAI Ford Cup Final in five years.

If either game finishes a draw the replays are fixed for Wednesday, 9 October, where there will be extra-time and penalties, if required, to determine the outcome.
