Sunderland have signed Juventus and Italy midfielder Emmanule Giaccherini for an undisclosed fee.

The Black Cats confirmed that Giaccherini's switch from the Serie A champions had been completed this afternoon with the 28-year-old having put pen to paper on a four-year deal.

While the fee has yet to be disclosed, Giaccherini is thought to have cost Sunderland around €7.5 million.

The Italian has won 14 international caps and was part of their Confederations Cup squad, which won a bronze medal.

Giaccherini joined Juventus in 2011 with who he won back-to-back Serie A titles.

He becomes the Black Cats' ninth signing as manager Paul Di Canio aims to avoid another relegation battle next season.
