Defending champions Drogheda United eased effortlessly into the last four of the EA Sports Cup with a 3-0 win over Cork City at Hunky Dorys Park.

All the goals came in the first half with Jason Marks' unstoppable shot sending Mick Cooke's men on their way after 24 minutes.

The lead was doubled on 43 when Alan McNally was on hand to head in after Derek Prendergast's shot was blocked on the line.

On the stroke half-time Drogheda were awarded a penalty after Cork's Danny Murphy was adjudged to have handled the ball. Ryan Brennan made no mistake from the spot.

Elsewhere Sligo Rovers were comprehensive 4-0 winners over Limerick FC at Thomond Park. Danny North was among the scorers for the Bit o’ Red. His goal came on 50 minutes. At that stage Sligo were two to the good, with Jeff Henderson and Gavin Peers both finding the net in the first half.

Evan McMillan completed the scoring on 77 minutes.

Derry City travelled to Dalymount Park to face Bohemians and came away with a 2-0 win. They left it late, however, with a brace from Michael Duffy inside the last 10 minutes ensuring their place in the draw for the semi-finals.
