And that's it for tonight, you can read full reports from all the games on the site and don't forget to join us for a full review of the weekend's action on MNS on Monday, and the clash of Bohemians and St Pat's on Sunday from 3.45pm.

2200 FULL-TIME Shamrock Rovers 4-0 Shelbourne

The first league game between Shamrock Rovers and Shelboune in almost seven years ends in a comfortable win for the Hoops. However, the first sending off had a massive impact on the outcome.

2151 Late drama at Tallaght as both teams are now down to ten men. Rovers' second half sub Gary McCabe picked up a second yellow card for what referee Derek Tomney felt was a dive. Rovers 4-0 Shels

2147 FULL-TIME Monaghan United 0-1 Sligo Rovers

Sligo Rovers seal a one goal win thanks to Danny North's strike.

2143 FULL-TIME Bray Wanderers 2-4 Drogheda United

And a thrilling game finally comes to an end at the Carlisle
Grounds. Drogheda United have deservedly collected three points but Bray played their part in an exciting game. Once again Bray fail to finish the game with 11 men and fall to their third defeat of the season.

2143 Aaron Greene punishes poor defending from Shels on 73 minutes. Ian Ryan failed to deal with a long ball and Greene was on hand to knock the ball past Paul Skinner. Rovers 4-0 Shels

2141 FULL-TIME Derry City 2-0 Cork City

Full-time at the Brandywell and Derry City are back to winning ways after last week's defeat to Shelbourne. Second half goals from Mark Farren and Stephen McLaughlin do the damage as Cork's miserable start to the season continues. There was plenty of effort from the visitors but they lacked a cutting edge.

2142 Gaynor's majestic 25-yard shot rebounds off the post and off Bennion but it moves away from goal. Monaghan United 0-1 Sligo Rovers

2137 FULL-TIME Dundalk 2-1 UCD

Despite a tense finish, Dundalk hold on for their first victory of the season. Former Bray Wanderers duo Chris Shields and Shane O'Neill grab the vital goals. Graham Rusk replied for the plucky Students. Entertaining affair.

2135 Ross Gaynor forces Chris Bennion into a good save after Lee Lynch teed the winger up 10 yards out. Humphries on for Monaghan. They'll have to start committing numbers forward soon. Monaghan United 0-1 Sligo Rovers

2129 Another goal here in the Carlisle Grounds and Bray Wanderers have a lifeline. A free-kick about 40-yards from goal on the left wing from Dean Zambra has sailed over everyone and into the top corner. Superb goal. Bray Wanderers 2-4 Drogheda United

2128 It was almost four soon after the break as a combination of the post, Lorcan Fitzgerald, and Andy Boyle denied Twigg and Finn in a goalmouth scramble. At the other end, Oscar Jansson produced smart saves to keep out Paddy Kavanagh and one of his own defenders. Rovers 3-0 Shels

2127 Minutes after his introduction, Fabio O'Brien has made 4-1 to the away side. A low ball played in from Sean Brennan to O'Brien; he controlled and calmly poked the ball past Quigley into the bottom corner. Bray Wanderers 1-4 Drogheda United

2123 Sligo are dominant in Gortakeegan with all the possession since the goal. Monaghan have had very little attacking threat in the game and are trying to muster counter attacks. Rovers looking for that sealing second goal through the dangerous North and Lynch. Monaghan United 0-1 Sligo Rovers

2121 Less than twenty minutes to go at the Brandywell and Cork are struggling to get back into this game. Cork boss Tommy Dunne has made a triple substitution. The closest they have come is John Dunleavy's harmless shot into the side netting. Derry City 2-0 Cork City

2120 Drogheda United make it 3-1 here with another good finish here. Sean Brennan kept his composure to sell the dummy to Darren Quigley before finishing past the three backtracking defenders on the line. Bray Wanderers 1-3 Drogheda United.

2117 A superb goal here from Brian Gannon has given the lead back to Drogheda United. The defender picked up the loose ball on the edge and played a ball toward the penalty area and continued his run. The ball flicked off the defender and found its way to Gannon who fired superbly past Quigley. Dane Massey has just been sent off for Bray after an off the ball incident. Bray Wanderers 1-2 Drogheda United

2010 CORR The Students are back in the game! Graham Rusk is taken down by Nathan Murphy after a great stop by Peter Cherrie – a harsh decision from here – and the striker picks himself up to tuck the spot kick away. Dundalk 2-1 UCD

2104 Sligo make the breakthrough as Danny North shows great composure following Raffaele Cretaro's pass to put Rovers one up. Monaghan United 0-1 Sligo Rovers

2101 Ronan Finn cracks in an absolute belter for Rovers' third of the night on 45. The midfielder wasn't closed down outside the box and fired in a shot that Paul Skinner could only get his finger tips to. Shamrock Rovers 3-0 Shelbourne

2100 A moment to forget for Cork City goalkeeper Mark McNulty who comes out of his penalty area to clear a pass back from Ian Turner, only to miss the ball completely, giving Stephen McLaughlin the easiest of tap ins to double City's lead just seven minutes into the second half. Derry City 2-0 Cork City

2100 Equalising goal here for Bray Wanderers. Kieran Marty Waters looked to been fouled by McNally but the ref waved play-on. Waters reclaimed the ball and squared it to Jason Byrne and he fired into the top corner. Bray Wanderers 1-1 Drogheda United

2058 Two goals in the space of five minutes for the home side as Shane O'Neill loops a header over McGinley. Dundalk are well and truly up and running now! Dundalk 2-0 UCD

2056 Derry City make the breakthrough just three minutes into the second half. Barry Molloy threads a superb through ball in behind the Cork City defence and Mark Farren latches onto it before drilling the ball past Mark McNulty from 18 yards. A huge goal for Farren and Derry City. Derry City 1-0 Cork City.

2052 Dundalk score their first goal of the season! Nathan Murphy curls in a great free kick from the right and skipper Chris Shields powers home a header from close range. Dundalk 1-0 UCD

2047 Half-time in Gortakeegan with no goals and little to report. Monaghan's first real threat as Jordan Keegan's cross has to be gathered by Gary Rogers late in the half but Lee Lynch also went close for Sligo. Monaghan United 0-0 Sligo Rovers

2041 A comical own goal by Shels' Stephen Hurley on 31 minutes. The midfielder was unaware of his keeper's position outside the box and passed the ball blindly into his own net. Shamrock Rovers 2-0 Shelbourne.

2038 A short delay at the end of the first half due to an injury to Adam Mitchell but it is eventually half time here in the Carlisle Grounds. Drogheda United have been the better side so far but have failed to build on their early lead. Tiernan Mulvenna has looked the main threat for Drogheda and has linked up with Peter Hynes on numerous occasions. Jason Byrne and Adam Hanlon have both had chances for the home side but Gabriel Sava in the Drogs goal saved both. Bray Wanderers 0-1 Drogheda United

2035 Scoreless at the break at half time. Derry City have come close through Mark Farren's effort which was cleared off the line by Ian Turner and Stephen McLaughlin's goal which was disallowed. Cork City have hit back strongly however with Daryl Horgan's effort striking the crossbar and Davin O' Neill bringing the best out of Gerard Doherty in the Derry goal. Both teams are evenly matched here at the Brandywell. Derry City 0-0 Cork City

2035 The teams go in scoreless at the break. Dundalk have come closest to scoring through a Stephen McDonnell effort that kissed the bar but the Students have caught the eye with their style of football in the opening 45 minutes. Dundalk 0-0 UCD

2034 Shels have reorganised after the goal and sending off as Brendan McGill had to make way for Paul Skinner. Philly Hughes soldiering alone up front as Rovers enjoy most of the ball. Shamrock Rovers 1-0 Shelbourne.

2033 Finally a chance at goal and it falls to Sligo. Sloppiness in the Monaghan defence allows Lee Lynch to cross for Danny North to control the ball and shoot just wide. Monaghan United 0-0 Sligo Rovers

2026 Derry City dominant at the Brandywell with ten minutes to go until half time, missing chances through Mark Farren and Patrick McEleney. But it is Cork City who almost take the lead when John Dunleavy's low cross is hammered off the underside of the crossbar by Daryl Horgan. Derry City 0-0 Cork City.

2025 Almost another goal here for Drogheda United. Dane Massey's attempted backpass was left short and Gavin Brennan raced through. Bray keeper Darren Quigley rushed out and slid in to superbly win the ball. He raced back to his goal while Graham Kelly fouled to prevent the long shot on goal. Kelly was very lucky not to receive a second yellow card for the incident. Mulvenna has also gone close but couldn't control a Hynes cross. Bray Wanderers 0-1 Drogheda United.

2024 Half-way through the first period and still neither goalkeeper has been tested. Sligo look the more dangerous side with the Bit o' Red enjoying more of the possession. They've yet to breakdown a cluttered midfield. Monaghan are playing on the break with Conor Murphy, the lone frontman, working hard. Monaghan United 0-0 Sligo Rovers

2022 Drama inside four minutes at Tallaght as Rovers take the lead the lead from the spot. Shels keeper Dean Delany was sent-off for fouling Billy Dennehy in the box. Gary Twigg smashes the penalty past sub Paul Skinner after a three-minute wait.

2015 Still goal-less here but chances have been created. Dundalk have hit the bar through Stephen McDonnell and Michael Rafter's rebound was cleared off the line. Play switched to the other end and but Chris Mulhall was denied by Peter Cherrie. Dundalk 0-0 UCD

2013 John Kenny on Twitter: Not a great crowd at Gortakeegan for Monaghan v Sligo. Pity Roddy Collins jnr is on the bench for Mons. Will Daddy give him the call?

2011 Even start in Gortakeegan with no clear chances as of yet. Some uncharacteristic poor touches by Joseph Ndo on a difficult surface. Monaghan United 0-0 Sligo Rovers

2010 Derry City think they have taken the lead when Stephen McLaughlin loops a header over Mark McNulty into the net but the celebrations are cut short when referee Mark McNulty disallows the goal for pushing. Derry City 0-0 Cork City

2004 Drogheda United still bossing the game here after that early
strike. Bray Wanderers did have a good chance to get back in the game but Gabriel Sava did well to stop a powerful Jason Byrne strike from the edge of the box. It could have 2-0 minutes later when Hynes found Mulvenna and his strike his the post but the offside flag had been raised anyway. End to end so far. Bray Wanderers 0-1 Drogheda United

2005 There is a ten-minute delay to game at Tallaght because of crowd congestion. President Michael D Higgins is introduced to the crowd. He greets the warm applause with a little wave.

2001 David (via e-mail): "Great looking site. Now cone object the reds and get to the top."

Is David on an iPhone? We think so. CONE OBJECT YOU REDS! (thanks David).

2000 We have kick-off in the two later games (8pm): Monaghan United v Sligo Rovers and Shamrock Rovers v Shelbourne.

1955 A very quiet opening at the Brandywell as neither side have created anthing of note. Cork City, playing 4-4-2 are battling hard to disrupt Derry City's passing game. The home side have had one half chance but Stephen McLaughlin blazed wildly over from an acute angle. Derry City 0-0 Cork City.

1959 Trent Hill (via e-mail): Thanks to the RTE Soccer blog for covering League of Ireland football, it's much appreciated by the fans overseas. Keep up the great commentary! And Go Hoops!

1956 Dundalk go in chase of their first win – and goal – of the season. They start with 16-year-old Ben McLaughlin – grandson of legendary manager Jim - at full-back. Both teams have started brightly with UCD stroking the ball around nicely. Dundalk 0-0 UCD

1951 Drogheda United have taken the lead after just 30 seconds here. Tiernan Mulvenna whipped in a deep cross from the right and Dean Marshall headed back across Darren Quigley into the bottom corner.

Disaster for Bray.

Bray Wanderers 0-1 Drogheda United.

1920 Alan Cawley looked back on the dramatic conclusion to the Hoops' visit to Turner's Cross in his weekly RTÉ.ie blog (link). He was happy to see Pat Dolan make a debut on the MNS sofa. What did you make of his analysis?

Speaking of outspoken MNS pundits, former contributor Roddy Collins has been enjoying his return to the Premier Division.

Ahead of the match with Sligo this evening, the Monaghan manager has said he is possibly the biggest fan of the football the Bit o' Red play in Ireland. He should be in for a warm welcome from the Sligo fans this evening after that comment.

1915 Welcome to tonight's Airtricity League updates, we'll have team news from around the grounds in the next few minutes.

It is the first live text on the redesigned RTÉ.ie/sport website.

Obviously there are changes to how the page will look this evening but we hope it will bring an even better experience on Friday evenings for you. We have five games to look forward to, please get your comments in below.
