Drogheda United v Bray Wanderers
Friday, 30 July 2010 14:27Robert Duggan could make his debut for Drogheda United against Bray Wanderers at Hunky Dorys Park tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper signed during the week from Shamrock Rovers after failing to dislodge Alan Mannus as Rovers' number one.
Assistant manager Darius Kierans is confident his side have learned lessons from last week's 3-2 defeat to Sligo Rovers.
Kierans said: 'Obviously, it is a massive game. Bray will come down here with no fear looking to close the gap. It is as much a chance for them as it is for us, but the lads are confident and have become a very close-knit squad.
'We gave away some soft goals against Sligo last week but we have worked on that in training and we know where we went wrong.
'There have been a lot of positives at the squad. We have managed to cut back a lot on our budget, which has helped as we try to make sure the club survives while keeping it in the Premier Division.'
Drogheda are without the injured trio of Darragh McNammara, Jamie Harris and Brendan McGill. Damien Brennan and Eoghan Osbourne return from suspension.
Bray are once again without Richie Baker (back), Stephen Brennan (hamstring), and David Tyrrell (ankle), but Matt Gregg comes into the squad after his departure from Dundalk.
Manager Eddie Gormley knows his side must win tonight if they are to have any chance of catching Drogheda and avoiding relegation.
Gormley said 'The new players that have come in are beginning to gel and have settled in well.
'Obviously, Friday's game is a massive game for us; it will be like a cup final. We need to get a result as games are running out for us at this stage.
'The new players have given us more stability and we will be going there to win the game.'
