Rodriguez set for return to Espanyol?

Liverpool's Argentine international Maxi Rodriguez is on the verge of returning to Spanish side Espanyol, Spanish sports has media reported.

'The 29-year-old winger has the profile which the Barcelona-based club have been looking for since the end of last season,' sports daily Mundo Deportivo reported.

He has sought to return to Spain since his place at Liverpool has become uncertain under new boss Roy Hodgson, rival daily Sport reported.

Rodriguez, who played for Espanyol between 2002-2005, has made just 17 appearances for Liverpool after signing a three-and-a-half-year deal in last season's January transfer window.
